Introduction

Welcome to the blog of Fingertips Day Nursery & Kindergarten. Fingertips is located in Island Park in a semi-detached residential neighbourhood.
We know how important it is to feel confident in the care that your child receives. One of the main reasons that Fingertips was conceived was to provide an environment where both the needs of the child and the parent were met. Children and their families are valued for what they are and will be welcomed and respected within our establishment. Here each child is seen as individual and is encouraged to develop at their own pace.

At Fingertips, we provide a wide range of activities to ensure the all-round development of the children in our care. We use a thematic approach, and allow our children to make connections between the various experiences during a school day to enhance thematic teaching and we also organizes excursion to relate to the themes. The activities planned cover the six areas of development, which are:
  • Personal , Social and Emotional Behavior
  • Communication , Language and Literacy
  • Mathematical Development
  • Physical Behavior
  • Creative Behavior
  • Knowledge & Understanding of the world.
Children do a wide range of activities during the day at the nursery. Among all the facilities available are book corner, dressing area, home corner, construction corner, puzzle table, art area, malleable play corner, outdoor and IT area.

We also believe that parents and families are central to the well being of the child. Thus, we involve parents in as many activities or celebration as possible. We have an open door policy for parents to come in and discuss their children's progress.

We had a barbeque for our family day. Parents, children’s, teachers and grandparents joined in the fun. Beside fastening relationships amend and between the parents, we want everyone particularly the children to have fun.
The children in our care are continuously observed and assessed in our progressment report. Together with the assessment, there will also be an evidence book to record their progress. This progressment will be discussed over parents' day which will be held twice a year. Alternatively, parents can discuss their children's progress or advice at the end of each day. A daily detailed report will be given to the parents in a daily basis. Vital information such as milk intake, sleep records and etc. are recorded.

Our daily meal is prepared by local aunty, we have an extensive menu ranging from Chinese to western cuisine. Weekly menu is clearly displayed on the bulletin board. Children need the opportunity to try various types of food and deserved to have a nutritious and balanced meal. Children's independence is also encouraged during meal times.

Fingertips is about the children it cares for making their time at nursery happy as well as providing them with the opportunity to grow and develop, to make new friends, to question and discover and to become confident and able to move to the next stage of education.
